Drydocking and Repairs
Grand Bahama Shipyard offers facilities for the drydocking and repair of all types of oceangoing vessels. The shipyard operates three floating drydocks with a maximum lifting capacity of close to 90,000 tonnes. The largest of these docks can handle vessels up to 300 meters in length, and has an internal width of 56 meters, and consequently vessels as large as VLCC tankers can be accommodated here.
Within the yard there are a number of deepwater wet berths that are available for alongside repairs, as well as a range of workshops to provide the necessary support services.
Grand Bahama Shipyard is considered to be the world leader in undertaking drydocking and repairs to cruise ships. The ongoing expansion and enhancement of the shipyard has created a facility which is considered to be the best equipped in the Western Hemisphere for this type of vessel. The yard is also regularly visited by a wide range of other vessel types, including container ships, bulk carriers, oil tankers, gas tankers, ro-ro vessels, and offshore craft. The yard is furthermore equipped to carry out the drydocking and maintenance of LNG tankers, and specialized facilities on site include a cryogenic workshop. |
