| Grand Bahama Shipyard Limited Acquires New Floating Dry Dock. |
In March of 2008 Grand Bahama Shipyard Limited acquired
a new third floating dry dock as another key element in its
aggressive expansion program. The agreement was finalized
on March 18th, between Grand Bahama Shipyard Limited and
the French government for the purchase of the floating dry
dock formerly used at the port of Le Havre, France. This
acquisition is part of the very aggressive expansion of the
successful shipyard. Overall the shipyard plans to spend
approximately 50 million US dollars on the expansion.
Grand Bahama Shipyard Limited was opened only 7 years ago, and has already grown rapidly in its
first years of operations. With increasing demand from several market segments, the need for
additional expansion has become urgent and the shipyard is ready for
another transformation. The new dock, combined with expansion of the
supporting areas, will substantially increase the overall capacity of the
yard. Judging by the interest from the market place the yard will be fully
booked for the foreseeable future.
